Spring Commencement Participation

The Political Science faculty and staff invite graduates and their guests to attend the department's graduation ceremony and reception at 12:00 noon on Monday, June 18, 2012, on the East Lawn of the EMU. Be sure to complete the department registration form if you plan to walk in the ceremony; click the graduation cap at the bottom of this page.

This ceremony is for both undergraduate and graduate political science majors. Graduating students will be individually recognized. The ceremony will be approximately one and a half hours long, and a reception with refreshments will follow.

The East Lawn is located adjacent to the Erb Memorial Union (EMU), with Carson Hall to the east and Straub Hall to the south. [map]

Please note that this is an outdoor ceremony where shade or covering may not be readily available; please plan accordingly. The ceremony will be held, rain or shine. Tickets are not required or available.

Graduates should gather in the EMU Fir Room no later than 11:30 a.m. on graduation day. There will be a sign-in table and handouts with instructions.

We encourage graduates and their guests to also attend the University Graduation Celebration beginning with an academic parade to Matthew Knight Arena at 9:00 a.m. Details regarding this celebration are on a website provided by the Office of Student Life.

Invitations and regalia (cap, gown, and tassel) can be ordered from the University of Oregon Duck Store. Graduation Images will photograph all graduates at the ceremony. Their website is www.gradimages.com.

It is a good idea to start making hotel accomodations now. Travel Lane County put together a helpful website listing room availability for more that 60 venues in the Eugene/Springfield area. Their website is www.eugenecascadescoast.org/commencement/

If graduates or guests need special accommodations, please notify the department at (541) 346-4864.
