Graduate Fellowships

The majority of funding for our graduate students is offered in the form of graduate teaching fellowships (GTFs). These awards are based on merit and not financial need. Each carries a tuition waiver (except incidental fees) and a competitive stipend with salary based on the hours per week of the appointment and the educational qualifications (degree held) of the student. Appointments are made for a minimum of 0.20 FTE and a maximum of 0.49 FTE (full-time equivalent). In the 2011-2012 academic year, the salary ranges for a 0.40 FTE standard appointment is $9,624 to $11,476. New students must indicate their desire for a GTF award during the application process (the online application has questions specific to this and therefore, does not require the below application to be filled out). Review of applications begins on February 1. Files that are not complete by that date may not be considered. The department makes every effort to offer GTF awards to new students by March 15 and requires a response by April 15.
