Commencement 2020

Congratulations on completing your degree!

The University of Oregon will be holding virtual ceremonies and activities on Saturday, June 20, 2020. The official 2020 commencement announcement can be found here.

The University Commencement Celebration will be broadcast live and will play on the main commencement website from 9:00 – 10:00 a.m.

The Department of Political Science Spring 2020 Virtual Commencement Ceremony will take place later that morning! A link to our pre-recorded departmental ceremony will be released at 10:30 a.m. and will be posted on the commencement website here.

How to participate in the Department Commencement Ceremony:

Apply For Your Degree On Duckweb

Only students who apply for their degrees through Duckweb will have their names in the commencement program. Commencement programs will be posted on the commencement website here.

  • The last day to apply to graduate through Duckweb for Spring ’20 was Sunday, April 26
  • If you plan to graduate in Summer ’20 or Fall ’20, the last day to apply to graduate through Duckweb AND have your name in the commencement program is Friday, May 29. 

Accessibility & Accommodations

If you or members of your family need accommodations for the virtual ceremony, such as closed captioning, please contact us at polisci@uoregon.edu by Friday, May 29. Requests after this time may not be accommodated.

Regalia and Diploma Covers

Students may purchase their regalia through the UO Duck Store online. There is free shipping on all graduation orders, the commencement fee is waived for all graduates and each graduate will receive their diploma cover free of charge. If you only want a diploma cover, you will still need to order it through the Duck Store.

Individual Recognition

All eligible graduates should have received instructions (sent to their UO email) from the UO Commencement Office on how to personalize their graduation slides.

  • Students will have the option to add a photo, written message and a short video to enhance their recognition moment. They will also be able to download and share their personalized graduation slide once they are released on June 20th.
  • Student who do not choose to add a photo, message, or video, will still be recognized with a slide that lists their name and degree
    • If you wish to opt out entirely of individual recognition, you can do so by emailing commencement@uoregon.edu
    • If you wish to participate in commencement but haven’t been contacted, please email commencement@uoregon.edu to request instructions on how to personalize your graduation slides.

Register to participate and receive a gift:

  • All eligible graduates who register for commencement by May 31 will receive a special celebration box to help commemorate graduation day. Register here.
